Abstract
Domestic violence has a standard script of men harming women. With the guidance of The Women's Center's domestic violence training packet and Tracy Lett's play, August Osage County, this thesis will prove how art can reflect life and educate individuals on domestic abuse. August Osage County disrupts the standard description of the abuser and victim, provides examples of the six different types of abuse, and calls for individuals to take control of their domestic violent situation. In conclusion this thesis is requesting acountability from the perpetrators and the victims in domestic violent situations as a solution to reducing the number of victims involved in domestic abuse.
