Abstract
This research examines resistance in the Congo Free State from 1885 to its purchase by Belgium in 1908. Focus centers on two prevalent forms of resistance - revolt and migration. By examining various accounts, including state agents, local peoples, and missionaries, this paper highlights the colony’s oppressive conditions and the significant responses it provoked.
