AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF ADRIENNE RIVERA, for the Master of Fine Arts degree in ENGLISH, presented on March 26, 2012, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. TITLE: THE WARMTH OF ANY LIVING THING MAJOR PROFESSOR: Professor Beth Lordan The Warmth of Any Living Thing is a collection of short stories. They are thematically linked, most containing ideas of betrayal, children in danger, and passivity. Each story is set in the real yet fictionalized town of West Liberty, Iowa.
