TITLE: TRANSCENDING THE REGENCY: ANNE BRONTË AND THE VICTORIAN DISCOURSE ON REDUCING DOMESTIC CRUELTY MAJOR PROFESSOR: Dr. K.K. Collins The purpose of this thesis is to explore Anne Brontë's significant contribution to the Victorian discourse on the reduction of domestic cruelty. The result is an extensive study of Brontë's two novels and the current critical discussion regarding this issue.
