Abstract
I held the role of technical director for Southern Illinois University’ Fall 2022 production of Little Women: the Musical. This document details the technical design process beginning April 2022 through opening December 9th, 2022.The first chapter explains my research in the biography of the authors, analysis of the play structure and past productions, as well as personal goals for this production. The second chapter is a detailed breakdown of weekly design meetings held with production design team members to refine the overall scope of the production. The third chapter is a summary of the production process, and the work completed each week. The fourth and final chapter is a review of my work completed throughout this process and an evaluation of the goals, stated in chapter one, were applied. The appendices contain all relevant and related paperwork necessary to the design and production process. This includes inspiration imagery from design team members, research imagery, build calendars, labor and material bid forms, construction build plates, and final production photographs.
