Abstract
The aim of this research is to show the column axial deformation effect on beams in a braced frame. This is studied through modelling multiple structures using computer software that takes axial deformation into calculation (Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis 2020 is used) and comparing the values of beams’ bending moments to those obtained through classical by-hand methods which do not take axial deformation into consideration. Further on, members are designed according to AISC manuals due to forces and moments in both cases, once while taking axial deformation into consideration and on another without taking axial deformation into account to showcase the significance on designed members.
