Abstract
These twelve stories explore the lives of the lower working class set against the backdrop of northern Minnesota. In a world of traveling rodeos with starving horses, carnivals, pawn shops, jobs at convenience stores, crummy bowling alleys, and ponds full of broken beer bottles, these stories still combat the belief that the world these characters come from is futile. Instead, characters rise to complete tasks that require action of them, however small, and hope to make some change.
