Volume 5, Issue 2 (2011) Summer 2011
From the Editor
Welcome to the Summer 2011 issue of the Online Journal for Workforce Education and Development, Volume 5, Issue 2. In this issue we explore a variety of topics in workforce education and development. First we examine a skills training program for adults, then 2 articles on industry- education partnership education. We have one technical article on improving quality processes, and one article exploring educational theory. Our special article in this issue is an invited report from the newest member of our Editorial Board, Dr. John Gaal, on research he did in his recent Fulbright sponsored study in Japan.
On a personal note, this will be the last issue of the Journal on which I serve as Editor, as I retired on 15 August, 2011, after 46 years of teaching. The new Editor, starting with Volume 5, issue 3 will be Dr. Beth Freeburg, Chair of the Department of Workforce Education and Development, Southern Illinois University Carbondale. My Managing Editor, Nishala Silva will also be leaving her position to concentrate more fully on the completion of her dissertation. Her responsibilities will be assumed by Malar Hirudayaraj. We wish them all the best in the future.
