Abstract
This research examines the expectations hold towards the role and responsibilities of healthcare interpreters in order to propose an ideal role profile of a medical interpreter. It also analyzes existing role models, accommodation strategies and the positioning of the interpreter in an interpreted situation. The elaborated role profile is intended to be a guideline for the field of healthcare interpretation which lacks norms and standards for the rendition of interpreters.
