About this Journal
In the late 1960's, Kinesis was founded with the goal of providing an open-forum for graduate students of philosophy to publish their respective works, and receive scholarly criticism. But being founded in the mid 1960's, Kinesis didn't want to appear to bourgeois, and kept its doors open to all papers of a "philosophical" nature. This goal was quickly seen to be too narrow, and soon book reviews and interviews graced the pages of Kinesis - recent interviews have included Sir Alfred J. Ayer, and Alasdair MacIntyre. We also continue to encourage scholarly criticism in the form of reaction-papers to manuscripts previously published in Kinesis. Kinesis occupies a unique position among scholarly journals in that it is one of the few journals in the world which is run entirely by and for graduate students. Always the highest levels of scholarship are strived for, and we continue to hold the goal of publishing quality graduate work as our highest aim. Thanks to continuing support from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and high-quality submissions from graduate students from around the world, Kinesis continues to publish two editions per year for libraries and philosophy departments on several continents.
