Abstract
Abstract
Objective: This literature review examines strategies for fostering the inclusion of neurodivergent individuals in the workplace with a focus on the role of Human Resource Management (HRM). Background: Neurodiversity refers to variations in neurological functioning and includes conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and others. Recognizing neurodiversity as a valuable form of human diversity can enhance workplace innovation and performance. Method: A comprehensive review of the recent literature on neurodiversity in the workplace was conducted by employing qualitative analysis techniques, including thematic coding, comparative analysis, and critical reflection. Results: Key findings encompass the significance of promoting neurodiversity inclusion through strategic human resource management practices using the HR neurodiversity strategic framework, which delineates essential strategies, including the implementation of inclusive recruitment practices, provision of reasonable accommodations, execution of awareness training programs, establishment of support networks, and evaluation of the impact of neurodiversity initiatives. These findings further underscore that leadership commitment and efficacious HRM practices are critical for cultivating supportive work environments for neurodivergent employees. Conclusion: Embracing neurodiversity is both a social responsibility and strategic advantage for organizations, enhancing innovation, employee well-being, and overall performance. Application: This study provides practical guidance for HR professionals and organizational leaders to implement neurodiversity initiatives and create more inclusive work environments. Future research directions are suggested, including longitudinal studies on the long-term impact of neurodiversity initiatives, and cross-cultural examinations of neurodiversity management practices.
