Abstract

As Raphael Delgado returns to his childhood neighborhood to visit his dying mother, he is confronted by memories of a horrific car accident which killed his friends, and the role he played in the driver's murder. Abandoned by his Puerto Rican father, he is raised in a Puerto Rican neighborhood by his Caucasian mother. As he relives the past through retelling the story, Raphael not only seeks to understand that part of his identity which was left void by the absence of his father, but he seeks to find acceptance for his actions, and come to terms with who he is as well.
