Video games have been used as marketing tools from the early beginnings of the media. In this research paper, I briefly examine some of examples throughout the years of how this was introduced and its effectiveness. Therefore, this document seeks to answer how a free video game might function as a marketing tool for student recruitment and retention while also re-connecting alumni to their own memories of SIUC campus life. The creation, production, marketing, and impact of the game SIU Campus Life Pinball are thoroughly examined. The results include the unpredictable nature and impact of modern day social networking
