Final Manuscript Preparation Guidelines for Dewey Studies
This document provides details on typesetting and layout requirements pertaining to final manuscript submission to Dewey Studies.
Formatting Requirements
- Submit your article as a .doc or .docx file; no other file types will be accepted. The body of the article should be in 12 pt. font, Times New Roman. Footnotes should be in 10 pt font, Times New Roman. Paragraph spacing should be 1.5 (rather than double spaced). All block quotes, however, should be left as single-spaced. You should use 1" margins. All other "special spacings" should not be used. Page size should be 8.5 x 11-inches.
- Abstracts are encouraged but not required--an informative introductory section may be sufficient. If you provide an abstract, it will be placed at the beginning of your article and will remain single-spaced.
- All citations should be done in accordance with The Chicago Manual of Style. We use footnotes, not endnotes. We accept footnote conventions such as ibid and passim, etc.
- With the exception of footnotes, which should be automatically numbered using the MSWord system, use as little automatic formatting as possible. Use the tab key to indent your block quotes. Avoid anything that will make your article difficult for the editors to streamline for publication.
