Abstract
This paper compares the French Poetic Realist masterpiece, L'Atalante (Jean Vigo, 1934) with the contemporary Scottish film, Young Adam (David Mackenzie, 2003), adapted from the 1954 Beat novel by Alexander Trocchi.
