Abstract

I trace the film historical roots of Todd Haynes' film, Carol (2015), including Orson Welles' Citizen Kane (1941), Billy Wilder's Sunset Boulevard (1950), Douglas Sirk's All That Heaven Allows (1956), and Charles and Ray Eames' Toccata For Toy Trains (1957).
